Turbot is a wonderful flatfish sourced from the Norwegian Sea. Fillets are rather thin, they are gleaming and retain their bright-white colour after cooking. Meat is juicy and firm, has large flakes. Its flavour is distinct and mild.
Turbot is low in calories – has less than 100 kcal in 100g. It is rich in vitamins B3 and B12, as well as in selenium, magnesium, and phosphorus. Thanks to its nutritional value, turbot consumption facilitates proper functioning of immune and metabolic systems, and strengthens bones and teeth.
The fish is well suitable for steaming, poaching, and pan-frying. When grilling, one needs to be careful as the meat can dry out easily. Turbot does not require a lot of seasoning – salt, pepper, and sprinkling with lemon juice would be sufficient. It can be served i.a. with light sauces and vegetables.
