Baby octopus’ meat is smooth and very firm. Its diet based on high-quality shellfish gives it a mild, slightly sweet flavour.
Baby octopus is a great component of a healthy diet as it is low in calories and in fat, while rich in protein. On top of nutrients typical for other seafood (i.a. omega-3 fatty acids), it contains large amounts of iron and vitamin B12, among others.
It holds up well to a number of cooking methods – can be grilled pre-marinated with olive, garlic and lemon juice; simmered in a tomato sauce; cooked in a wine sauce. Baby octopus is also well suitable for salads and seafood pastas.
